Book Meme

The lovely Lisa did this over on her blog, so I thought I would follow suit.

The book that’s been on your shelves the longest.
Hmm, I'm pretty good at donating books periodically, but I still have a copy of My Book About Me that my godparents got me when I was in elementary school.

A book that reminds you of something specific in your life (a person, a place, a time).
The Great Gatsby - I read it my junior year in high school and it is still my absolute favorite book. It takes me back to Mr. Cavanaugh's AP English class!

The book that’s been with you to the most places.
The North and South series by John Jakes. I started them in high school and took them with me on trips. At the time they were hard to get through and it seemed like every vacation after that I started them over - although I'm not quite sure I ever finished them!

The most recent addition to your shelves.
The Reader - I bought it at a used bookstore - but it was my last book purchase because I'm going to go through all the books on my shelves that I haven't read before buying any others. (I should be good through the beginning of next year, easy).

Your current read, your last read, and the book you'll read next.
Current read: The Romance Reader by Pearl Abraham; last read: The Dogs of Babel by Carolyn Parkhurst (read my review here); Next read: Giving Up America by Pearl Abraham (next on my bookshelf), or Love Walked In by Marisa De Los Santos (borrowed from a friend), or whatever we choose next in my book club.
