Ohhhh books!

The lovely Lisa over at Knitting Yarns recently did this book meme and I thought it would be fun to do as well.

Hardback, trade paperback or mass market paperback?
Um, all of the above please. I am not picky! Hardbacks are nice but paperbacks can fit so well into my purse.

Waterstones, Borders or Amazon?
I've never heard of Waterstones, and I'm an instant gratification kind of girl so I'll have to go with Borders. Plus their membership is free and they email you coupons.

Bookmark or dog-ear?
BOOKMARK. End of discussion.

Amazon or brick-and-mortar?
Hmm, brick and mortar. There's just something about being in a bookstore.

Alphabetize by author, or alphabetize by title, or random?
Alphabetized by author - much easier to find that way.

Keep, throw away, or sell?
Why would you throw away a book? Seriously! Keep, and if don't still want, trade in at a used bookstore, or donate to the library.

Keep dust jacket or toss it?
I bet people who throw away dust jackets are also people who throw away books. If you are one of these people please don't talk to me.

Read with dust jacket or remove it?
Usually the books with dust jackets are pretty big, so I remove it.

Short story or novel?

Harry Potter or Lemony Snicket?
I've never read Lemony Snicket, but even if I had it would be hard to beat out Harry Potter. (Yes, I am that girl).

Buy or borrow?

Buying choice: book reviews, recommendations, or browse?
All of the above

Tidy ending or cliffhanger?
Tidy ending - cliffhanger only if it's a series and not the last book (Um, I'm kind of a high-maintenance reader, huh?)

Morning reading, afternoon reading, or nighttime reading?
Whenever I can

Stand-alone or series?

Favourite series?
Hmm....Harry Potter - I'm sure there are more but that's on my mind right now

Favorite children’s book?
I Love You Forever (My mom used to read it to me and actually sing in the book when the mom sings - even thinking about it now makes me get a little teary-eyed).

Favorite Young Adult book?
The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants series by Ann Brashares (there are four of them and I think every woman should read them regardless of how old she is).

Favorite book of which nobody else has heard?
Go Ask Alice - a young adult book but really good (based on true story)

Favourite books read last year?
The Kitchen God's Wife by Amy Tan (this is the first one I thought of)

Favorite book to recommend to an 11-year-old?
For a girl I would say The Babysitters Club series and for a boy maybe Ironman by Chris Crutcher

Favorite book to re-read?
All my romance novels - predictable but fun

Do you ever smell books?
There is nothing better than the smell of a new book. I've even passed on this tradition to my sister.

Do you ever read primary source documents like letters or diaries?
If a novel is written this way (like Rosie Dunne by Celia Ahern), then sure. I also read letters I get in the mail. I'm confused by this question.

What are you reading right now?
A Romance Reader by Pearl Abraham - I need to finish this and move on!

What are you reading next?
Loved Walked In by Marisa De Los Santos (a friend lent it to me), and The Girls From Ames which is the next book for my book club

What about you all? Feel free to answer any/all of these questions in the comments, or if you have a blog and you do this, let me know in the comment section and I'll be sure to check it out. Oh how I love reading!

Oh yeah, and I have not only heard of Go Ask Alice, but I have read it too. Now if I could just remember it...

Ooo, fun! Thanks for playing along. I loved your answer about the dust jackets & not wanting to know people who throw them away! ha!

I also love the book "I Love you Forever". Such an amazing book.

Hola! Do you have the Sisterhood series?? I really want to read them :)

Nicole - I'll be checking your blog for sure! Em, I have some of the series - I've loaned them out over the years and never got all of them back - so I'll have to check and let you know! I'm glad everyone seems to love I Love You Forever - I've bought that for all of my friends who've had kids!

Waterstones, Borders or Amazon?

Library! Bookstores are for buying books that will be given away as gifts. Why buy a book when (in my case) my $100 taxes gives me access to several million dollars worth of reading!

Julia-I'm too lazy to set up an account

Haha, thanks Julia! :)
