My latest obsession: Morado

Love. That is the best way I can describe the feeling I have for the Etsy shop Morado.

I stumbled across it and absolutely fell in love with the jewelry. I emailed the seller and she was kind enough to answer a few questions for the blog. Meet Purva - and feast your eyes on the beauty that she creates!

How did you get started with your Etsy shop?
I always dreamt of owning a business. Either a boutique or an artsy store. Never thought it would be online and would shape up so soon. I came across Etsy while browsing design blogs and was quickly drawn to the immense talent it shared. I started off as a buyer but knew one day I would own a store. It wasn't 'till earlier this year that I finally started selling my art and around the same time discovered polymer clay. The two (clay and Etsy) just married up beautifully to form Morado.

What made you decide to work with clay?
It was an urge to create flowers (now you know why Morado is full of roses) and I was looking at different mediums that would make them come to life. My choices were paper, fabric, classic clay, or polymer clay. Once I got my hands on some PC, there was just no stopping. It's a versatile medium and you can pretty much create anything with clay.

What inspires you to create pieces?
My biggest inspiration is my love for colors and bold patterns. I love to experiment with different color combinations. Second big source of inspiration is flowers of course. If I had to describe Morado, I would say it's all about Big, Bold, Colorful, Statement art. Definitely not for the faint hearted!

What's your favorite piece right now? Does this ever change?
All my pieces are like my babies and they are all number one on my list. But, if I had to pick an all time favorite, it would have to be the Calla necklace. This piece is super fun and if I had a choice I would wear it everywhere.

Do you make things for your Etsy shop full-time or do you have another job/career as well?
I'm not a full time Esitan, though I would love to be someday. I have two lives - one being the black and white, technicaly and analytical life of an Engineer in the Construction Industry and the other more colorful, passionate and whimsical life of an artist.

I ordered the stallion rose ring and I love it! Purva provided such great customer service - she emailed me when my order was complete and then again when my ring shipped.

I've gotten so many compliments on it and people are amazed that it's not cloth - the clay is beautiful! Honestly - I can't say enough good things about this shop, and Purva is more than willing to do a custom order.

Thanks Purva for taking the time for these questions - and readers, be sure to head over and check out Morado!

She has very beautiful pieces. I really love that raspberry rose pendant shown above. And I have a very similar shirt to that too!

People need to stop showcasing so much stuff from Etsy! :) There's so much that I love, but no money to buy any of it. Oh well, I'll just add this to my favorites and get something someday.
