Quite possibly the most awkward bathroom experience ever

I'm prefacing this story by saying it did not happen to me - it happened to a friend and I won't name her, but I did get her permission to blog about this. Because really, how could I not? (For the sake of this story I will call my friend M).

Bathroom etiquette. An awkward topic for sure, especially when you use the bathroom at work. The building I work in doesn't allow phones in the workspace, but in the more general areas of the building you can use them if you get signal, so sometimes you'll see people in the hallway on their cell phones. And occasionally, people bring them into the bathroom while they're talking.

Being on the phone in a public bathroom is ridiculous. There is no conversation that's so important you can't call them back in three minutes after you pee. And who is on the other end of the phone that's okay with hearing loud flushing toilets and people talking?

But I digress.

So sometimes people talk on the phone in the bathroom. My friend M went into the bathroom the other day. There was someone in one of the stalls and it didn't take long for M to realize the lady was on the phone. M hears the lady say, "That's what I love about you, you're so compassionate." Okay, weird conversation to be having in the bathroom, but whatever. A little more conversation that M tries to ignore.

The bathroom's quiet, and then...there's a moan.

And a groan.

And a sigh.

At this point M's thinking no, no way is what I think happening, actually happening.

Then there's a whispered, "I can't wait to try that when we get home, I'm so excited."

OMG.

By now M is out of the stall trying to wash her hands as fast as humanly possible. There was a CD she put on a shelf in the bathroom and she attempted to grab it as she walked by, but it slipped out of her hand and crashed to the floor.

It's almost like the fight or flight instinct. Try to pick the CD up listening to more of this, or leave it and go? After scraping the floor for a few minutes M managed to get the pieces and run out of there.

Who has phone sex in the bathroom at work?

My initial reaction was covering my mouth in shock - but that soon dissolved into laughter at the sheer ridiculousness of it. Seriously. Who does that?

(Is it weird if I wish you a happy weekend after that story?)

HA. That's totally insane and random and funny all at the same time. Who does that? Especially when other people could walk in at any time!?

Haha! Recently at a race a little boy ran up to a port-a-potty and snatched the door open. There was a lady on the pot. We could all see her...especially since the horrified little boy backed away slowly then dashed off, leaving the door open!

OH MY GOD! Yikes. That is hilarious and also disgusting at the same time.

I hate it when people talk on the phone when they are in the bathroom. I don't even like having a conversation w/ a friend who is in another stall. I think bathrooms should be silent zones!!!! No talking, whatsoever1
