Ohhhh peach pie

First up in my quest to become a domestic goddess was peach pie. I received this product from CSN to review so I thought my first pie would be a good test run. Settle in, because baking always tends to be a little crazy with me.
Pretty, right? And in my signature color!

Full disclosure: I got this recipe from Mandy and I'm way too chicken to make my own crust yet so that came from a box. Everything else I made. I also added 1/3 to all the ingredients because the recipe is for a 9 inch pie and the plate I have is 12 inches.
The pie tin is awesome - I give it 4 out of 5 stars! I would have given it five except the paper attached to the tin was a pain to get off. (I had to scrub it for a good ten minutes before it would all come off). However, cleaning it up was no problem. I'm trying to learn to love baking (frankly because I'm not very good at it), but I'm not there yet.
So...three things I don't like about baking:
  1. It takes all of my focus and I literally cannot do anything else except concentrate on the recipe which is not good because the recipe both stresses me out and keeps me sane.
  2. Baking makes me realize how much I hate math. (Seriously? Having to calculate fractions after I've already measured out 2/3 of something and 1/4 of another? Ugh).
  3. It makes me really messy and I don't like doing the dishes after wards.

And three things I do like about baking:
  1. It's cool to see the different stages of the recipe take shape.
  2. It's the one time I don't feel bad about being messy (even though my mom taught me to clean up as you go).
  3. When the results are good - totally worth it:
What do you think dear readers? Do you enjoy baking or not so much? Thanks to the mister for these photographs! (He took most of the pictures because I was well...baking). Oh, and the pie was delicious.

Happy hump day!

Oh man...I've been dying to make a peach pie before summer is over. This looks delicious! Is the recipe on Mandy's site or something that could be passed along...?

Wow - looks really, really yummy! Good for you. We had to learn how to make a pie when I was in 4H (yes, I was in 4H, I realize this makes me a bit of a hick). I didn't love doing it because the crust part was so tough. So I have never made a pie since. But my oldest brother is the PIE PRO. He always makes multiple different pies when he hosts holidays. He's so good at it!

I do love to bake though. I actually prefer it over cooking because you kind of HAVE to follow a recipe. I am such a black/white person, I find comfort in the fact that I need to add exactly a tsp of baking powder (or whatever). I hate how cooking recipes will often say things like, 'salt to taste'. That sort of stresses me out! I need specific directions, people!

Congrats on a successful pie! Maybe you should come to ND and my mom can teach you how to do a perfect pie crust. She is the person that taught my brother and is an absolute pro. :)

I have an awesome recipe for peanut butter pie that I will happily pass along and a crust that my mom uses. I prefer baking over cooking because then I can use my kitchenaid which makes me incredibly happy. The pie looks great and I am glad that you enjoyed it!

I like baking so much better than I like cooking. Maybe that's because I'm a sweats addict, and I usually like baking cookies. Looks like you did a great job on your first pie. And I love the green color!

That looks delish! I love to bake and cook but I don't bake a lot in the summer - it gets too hot. But can you please tell me how you kept the crust from burning? My edges always get too dark unless I foil them.

YUM! Good job, that pie looks delish!!

I can make pie, apple pie to be specific. But the crust? Heck no! I pre-buy that! Haha

Awww man, send that baby up here. I'm ok with baking as long as the list of ingredients starts with a pre-made box of something. And seriously, what's with the math? I fully admit to googling things like How many cups in a quart ALL the time. Turns out, baking makes me feel pretty dumb :)

I've never made pie, mainly because I don't like it. (I'm weird!) But I do love, love love baking. I hate cooking, but love baking. Although, I agree that making a mess is sometimes annoying, especially when it gets all over the floor!

I am most definitely not a baker. I LOVE to cook because I don't like following recipes. Cooking is like one big science experiment where I can throw a bit of this, a dash of that into a pot and see what happens. Baking is too exact for me. I do make chocolate chip cookies every once in awhile, though.

But I'll tell ya, if anything were to get me to bake, it would be that adorable pie dish! SO cute! And the color is gorgeous.

Great job on your pie, it looks scrumptious!

Brilliant! "Baking makes me realize how much I hate math" - ME TOO!! I remember moving from the UK to here and going from all my recipes being in GRAMS and having a little mini scale... to everything being fractions of cups. I'm sensing a pattern as to why my baking frequency has lessened :) I love the DECORATING part of baking, though!

I love to bake. But I don't do recipes, so nothing ever comes out the same way twice. And I'm glad your pie came out good...I bet it was yummy!

That looks so good! I do like to bake because I appreciate the precision of it. But I like to cook too. A lot of times people favor one over the other, but I'm not sure I have a preference.

mmm that looks good!
I just got a whole bunch of peaches to make pie with today, lol! :)
I personally like to bake over cooking - I guess I'm a math person so I like a set recipe! =]
