A little dapple of my decorating

I've never been a fan of rushing from Thanksgiving right into Christmas but I have to admit, I've already started decorating. Maybe because my sister-in-law and I went to Target super early on Black Friday and I bought a beautiful Christmas tree that I couldn't wait to put up, maybe it's because we had family in town and I was overwhelmed with love and joy and didn't want to pause the holiday spirit, or maybe it's because of the beginning of Advent, but I started decorating last night, and I couldn't be happier.

I'm feeling very at peace this holiday season and I'm basking in that as much as I can. My faith is growing, I'm trying to stress less, and I'm really taking time to enjoy the little moments. The tree I bought is the first one Ben and I have had since we've been married, and the first one I've had that hasn't belonged to a friend or my parents. Every time I put an ornament on a branch I got a little bit happier and my heart felt a little fuller. (And all of you anti-artificial tree people, a live tree will never be an option because of allergies and I tend to kill things that can't tell me they need food or water. Don't believe me? Before...and after).
How was your weekend? Did anyone else go shopping on Black Friday? (I was surprised at how smoothly everything went! We went to Target and the mall, got breakfast and I was home in under two hours!)  What are you finding peace in this holiday season?

(Psst! Have you entered my giveaway yet?)

Beautiful!

We will not be decorating for Christmas this year as we're both flying back up North for the holidays BUT if all goes well next year it will be our first Christmas by ourselves in a house we OWN and I can't wait to decorate for the holidays! :)

Becky, I just brewed some coffee and as a treat for making progress on an article I'm working on, I decided to step into Blogworld. ANd there you are, with T Day into Christmas and I'm with you - I love moving right into "Holiday" because the time flies and why not enjoy the peace and love one feels while decking the house and creating traditions with our husbands (congrats on your tree!) and the celebratory spirit that we should (really) feel throughout the year.
I love this post - the pictures and the joy you're sharing. Can't believe it was nearly five months ago already that we were all touring that little bookshop in Georgetown!

And on Black Friday, per tradition, Nor and I went out (not super early) but around 8 to Target, of course! And paused just inside the door to say "what do we need?" and then we laughed and spent the next 90 minutes browsing and buying (gifts) and then went out to breakfast (also tradition) before heading to the home center to buy our Christmas trees! (our old ones got tossed due to a small flood in basement back in Feb.) Oh, the hilarity on getting two 7.5 foot Xmas trees into my Honda Civic. We got laughing so hard and ended up with our seats nearly touching the dashboard as we drove off.
Ah, the stuff of Holidays!
Hugs to you and yours!

Those sparkly ornaments look like they should be edible or something. LOVE.

I love the picture of the branch with the lights! I went out Black Friday afternoon for about an hour, and it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. We started decorating around our house this weekend too...sometimes it feels like a rush from one holiday to the next, but I love to have time to really enjoy the decorations!

Aw, I love your decorations, especially the JOY stocking holders. We decorated this weekend too - two trees in fact! And I loved every second of the decorating process!

I love decorating! Usually it takes me a while to get everything put up, but I did it all yesterday! We have a fake tree, too, and I love it. As much as I love the smell of Christmas trees, they are a pain in the butt. They drop needles everywhere, you have to keep them watered, the cats would probably destroy it, etc.

Our tree is from Target, too! And it's pre-lit, so you just put the pieces together and BAM! A tree!

Enjoy :-)

I am ALL ABOUT the artificial tree. A real tree? Sneeze fest. Can't do it. Plus I, too, kill things that can't ask for food and water.

So pretty.

I commented here and on your contest post yesterday, but apparently they got eaten? Anyhoodle, I am so excited that you bought your own tree! I can't imagine not having a Christmas tree. I helped decorate over the weekend too. There's something so peaceful and calming about sitting in a room lit up by the Christmas tree and candles.

I must say those pictures are awesome. I especially love the shallow depth of field on the stockings picture! Great work w/ that camera!
