Take that, hair!
What I'm looking forward to about having short hair again:
- Layers. Ohhh how I've missed them. In order to donate my hair I've been letting my layers grow out, and it's made my already naturally thick hair even heavier than normal.
- Not taking forever to blow dry my hair. I've given up morning showers on workdays because it takes so long. I actually once went to bed with my hair wet and six hours later when I woke up it was still damp.
- Not getting headaches from my hair being pulled back too long. Forget putting it up in a ponytail, it's so thick at this point that even a bun at the base of my neck starts to hurt after awhile.
- Maybe it's silly but sometimes I feel like my longer hair is a little empowering. I haven't been wearing heels as much lately because of my knee, but when I toss my hair over my shoulder I feel so...feminine, but not in a weak I need your help kind of way.
- Compliments about the color of my hair. I know, a little vain, but I've gotten more, "I love the color of your hair," compliments recently than ever before. I guess because my hair's longer the color is more vibrant...or there's just more of it to see?
- Playing with my hair. Twirling it, hiding behind it a little when I'm tired in the mornings, enjoying it covering my shoulders. At times it's been a pain, but it's also been fun!
Have you ever grown out your hair to donate? Do you have long or short hair? Which do you prefer? I promise to post pictures once I get it cut!
P.S. A little shout out to my friend Brooke - it's her birthday today!

You are doing such a sweet thing!I am totally inspired by this post
Happy Monday,sweetie
Way to go!! D's sister is doing the same thing right now, after the wedding she is getting it all cut off to donate! Good for you :)
Your hair will be a pretty color whatever the length!
I can never donate my hair because I thin it and those layers just never grow all the way out. Too bad because my hair grows quickly!
Such a great thing you are doing! I'm in the process of growing my hair out and I'm so glad that it will be long again. I've missed it long. Part of why I'm growing it is so that I can donate it someday as well =) Can't wait to see what the new hair looks like!
Can't wait to see your new hair on Friday!!!
I have to give you major props - I could NEVER grow my hair out. My hair is past my chin right now but not quite to my shoulders and that's more than long enough for me!! Lol
Hooray - it's the best feelign to chop it off. When I did it, the hair person was like, 'do you need a moment before I start cutting?' I was like, hell no, get rid of stat. :)
Can't wait to see your new 'do! :)
Oh, fun! I did that earlier this year and getting a brand-new style was exactly what I needed! I do miss my long hair and sometimes think about growing it out again, but I just love how easier short hair is to manage!
I CANNOT WAIT to see your new hair!!
Good luck! Im always a little scared to get haircuts ( still) :) Let us know how it turns out!!
I keep wanting to cut my hair short again, but I'm thinking of growing it out to donate. Good for you for finally making it through the process!
that is really really sweet of you to donate your hair to a good cause!
i feel the same way about having long vs short hair. so many pros & cons to either! but it's fun to change things up.
Your hair color really IS lovely, though!
I get long-hair headaches all the time now, but I don't want to cut it. Mine used to always be super-short, but I grew it out for my husband, and I like how much he likes it!
Oh, I can't wait to see your finished cut! It'll be amazing! :)
The thing that I miss about long hair is being able to do something different with it every day- but I love how simple and fast my short hair is. And I always feel fashionable :)
