The magic of snow

We got our first snowfall of the season yesterday. And despite people panicking about driving home in an inch of snow (yeah, laugh it up, but this is Northern Virginia and that's what happens), I just kept smiling. It reminded me of this post - I got the same feeling.

Regardless of how traffic is affected, or what the snow does to school and/or work schedules...that first snowfall? Simply magical. A blanket of white, covering the earth, as if to let it rest for awhile. No matter how down I'm feeling, or tired I am - all I have to do is look outside at the snow.

Somehow...it heals.
Anyone else feel this way?

"...as if to let it rest for awhile." That description is absolutely perfect. I love the feeling of a fresh snowfall, too. Walking in newly fallen snow makes me feel so peaceful - especially because it's always so calm and quiet when it first snows. We don't get a ton of snow around here, so when it does happen it feels so magical. And everything around here shuts down with an inch of snow, too ;-)

My mum arrived in Woodbridge last night and she and my niece called me today to tell me they were making snowmen and having snowball fights with the neighborhood kids. Wish I could be there!!!

We had our first snowfall in southeast TN on Sunday/Monday. School was called off on Monday and Tuesday because of it, and it was beautiful. Yesterday, we just got ICE. Our road was covered with a layer of ice, so they called off school again yesterday for the county. My car had a thick layer of ice covering it, too!

I love the beauty of snow. No matter how crazy life is, when it snows, it quiets everything down. It's calming. When you go outside, you can just hear the sound of snowflakes hitting the ground, and it's so beautiful.

I like it as long as I don't have to be out driving in it! It's beautiful until it makes my commute a bloody disaster! :P

I especially like it when it coats the trees, making my neighborhood look like a winter wonderland!

I love snow, as long as I am sitting in my house looking out my window and sipping on a warm beverage. The minute I have to go out in it and/or drive? HATE. My car really sucks in the snow and I wish I would have known that when I bought it. It stresses me out soooo much. I miss my SUV and cannot wait until 2012 when hubby has promised I can get a new one haha. Oh the joys of having a paid of car that is perfectly fine.. boo

I love the kind of snow that shuts down the city, that falls lightly and quietly, that is nothing short of gorgeous and settles like a blanket. Indoors people read, nap, sip hot chocolate, work on Christmas puzzles and relax. That's the kind of snow that helps heal my soul!

Oh definitely. This morning I had to bus in to work super early (6:50) and I was freezing and tired, but walking through fresh snow while everything was all sparkly was just magical :)

Fresh snow is just beautiful. One of the best parts of winter, by far.

I love fresh snow too. How it crunches under your feet and makes everything look new again... Love it.
