"Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not, but remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for." - Epicurus
I dream in the every day. When I started this blog I named it Love Everyday Life because I didn't have one specific thing I'd always be talking about - I knew my stories would be more about the day to day. Since then I've fallen more in love with everyday life than I could have thought possible.
So, my dreams? They're made of simple things. Laughing until I cry with my husband over a joke no one else would understand. Sipping hot chocolate and talking about faith with a friend. The ripple of joy that goes through me when the cookies I made are devoured by co-workers.
The dreams of money, fame, and houses in different countries? Not for me. I'm more of a decorating the house for the holidays with my husband and (future) children, then all piling on the couch and watching a movie. Those are the dreams that make my heart soar.
I want to push myself - and I do. But at the end of the day, every time I complete an errand, share a story with a loved one, or let myself fully soak up and experience the moment I'm in - those are my dreams coming true.
How do you dream? Happy Friday!
(Don't forget, it's the last day to enter the giveaway - winner will be announced Monday!)

here's something that'll make your little heart smile...I am in town today through the 13th :) I will wait for your call...lover!
More people need to be like this...I have to say I am a little bit about the person who dreams of the second home...but it is more to relax and have a place to enjoy with friends.
Head over to my blog..I am doing a giveaway!
I dream about Pottery Barn area rugs, new couches, a clean car, and a weekend by myself.
Simple dreams for sure.
I dream about vacations in Paris and holding hands w/ the barrister when we are apart like we are right now.
When I am running, I dream about a time when I am married and have a baby and I wake up in the early morning hours, kiss my sleeping husband, and go for a run with the baby.
I dream of owning a book store and being a librarian, even though I know these things won't happen. But that is ok. Because dreaming about them is actually quite fulfilling.
I love this :) So much focus is put on the BIG TICKET dreams like a big trip, a house, whatever. We need to focus more on the everyday dreams that are more fulfilling than we realize.
Right now, I dream of the weekend and getting a couple extra hours of sleep. Every morning my alarm has gone off I've been EXHAUSTED! :)
I agree with Lisa...I would love to own a bookstore...and maybe it could be in Paris.
I really enjoy cuddling on the couch on a chilly weekend with a book, baking, being home. I dream about travel but am always looking forward to going home.
I love your little dreams- I try to dream big and small, but when I dream big I focus on the little steps to get me there. I think that being happy and fulfilled by the every day is one of the key ways to live a happy life. If I can really genuinely look forward to and savour even just my first cup of coffee in the morning, I feel like everything else is a little easier :)
Your dreams are fabulous! I admit I do dream about money & fame sometimes but mostly I dream about the same thing: having a big family, tons of kiddos running around the house and just being together as a family! :)
I love this Becky! I'm sorry that I've been super absent from the blogging world. I needed to take a blogging hiatus so that I could get some things straight in my personal life, but now I am back and am excited to catch up with all my old bloggie favorites. I love your simple dreams. It's this moment that truly matters after all, right?? THIS moment is truly all we have, so it's important to cherish it. Beautiful post. :)
Oooh, I love that quote! It is so true! Every once in a while, I stop and remind my whiny self that I am living EXACTLY the life I've always dreamed of, and Lucy ten years ago would never have DREAMED of complaining about it. Thanks for the reminder!
I love this! You and I are kindred spirits in this regard. Some of the best moments I've had recently have been small, simple things. I want my life to be full of those tiny special moments, and then punctuated here and there with big stuff, like weddings, babies, vacations, etc.
Awe, what a wonderful post! This was great to read & a great reminder to really love everyday life! hahaha ;)
Waking up next to my husband, going home to see my parents or calling my mom during my lunch after a stressful day, those are the moments that are my dream come true. :)
Beck.. I won't lie. This post brought tears to my eyes. I have been dwelling on this so much lately, how to dream and what to dream for.. I have been going through some harder times, constantly feeling pressured by the world around me, but it hit me yesterday that I should be more grateful for all the dreams come true that I have already acquired. You are a gem, an absolute gem.
Best,
Hannah
I love this post becky. Like you I dream of simple dreams, being happy, in light of my cousins recent health problems -- for her to be healthy again, enjoying what I have not what I dont.
I like this post too Becky, it definitely shines light on thinking about the simple things. I admit that I drive myself crazy sometimes because my dreams are always so lofty, but it really fuels my passion and ambitions even more, so I don't really mind it that much :)
