A change

I'm not sure what's happened, but I feel different.

I've always been a confident person. In fact, sometimes too confident. (My apologies to those of you who were friends with me in high school. Seriously. I was intense). But lately, something's changed. Maybe it's choosing my attitude instead of letting it choose me, maybe it's the freedom I'm letting myself experience, or embracing who I am as I'm getting older, but something has changed.

The other day I got out of my car and was almost knocked over by the wind. Normally my first reaction would be "woah!" followed by an expletive, and hurrying into my apartment. Instead...I laughed. A big, deep, belly laugh that had me grinning from ear to ear. I had a lot to carry from my car, and there were several more gusts before I was ready to head inside. But each time the wind started up I would giggle.

We were flirting, the wind and I, and instead of being (literally) blown over, I turned my face to the sky and savored it. The chill on my cheeks, the slight sting in my eyes, and the pure feeling of joy in my heart at simply enjoying the moment.

Who is this woman who now takes the time to enjoy small things like the wind? I don't know for sure yet, but I'm loving every aspect of her so far.

I think that's great! Attitude about life is so important, so I am sure that is part of the reason for this change. I think as we age, though, we get better. I am so much kinder to myself now compared to how I was in my early to mid 20s. I rarely say mean things to myself and that used to be a common thing years ago. It's refreshing.

I'm loving every aspect of her, too!

Also, have I mentioned how much I like the pictures you include in your posts? Always so pretty!

I like this post =) Of course the wind would flirt with you, you're adorable! But really, taking a moment to enjoy the small things? Totally worth it. I'm learning to do more of it myself. Also, we need to make a 2011 meet-up happen. Just saying!

I love when weather flirts with me. Except lightning. Because he doesn't mess around.
