Possibility

It started small. After all, what's a notebook going to do?

But it's opened a door. One I've been approaching for awhile, cautiously, nervous to put my foot across the threshold.

Writing has always been part of my life. Both my parents are journalists, and I've written stories for as long as I could remember. They were always fiction - and when asked, my parents always read them. (Apologies to you both!)

As I got older, I still loved novels, but there was a pattern of things that began to interest me. Stories that were true, (or based on true stories), and novels where the writing was so alive it came off the page.

I didn't want to read about a peaceful lake, I wanted to smell the air, and feel the muddy shore beneath me, as I gazed at the beauty of the rippling water. That's the kind of writing that captures my heart.

I want to leave a story. It doesn't have to be grand or earth-shattering, as long as it's mine.

So I'm stepping through the doorway with both feet. I'm nervous and excited but I'm not sure why because I don't even know what this means yet.

But I'm writing. Whether it's for me or a bigger audience...only time will tell.
