These are my (maternal) grandparents, not too long after they got married in 1944. I think Grandma is gorgeous and Grandpa is dashing!
(Click on the picture to view larger image).
These are my grandparents many years later, in the kitchen of their house - and I love how happy they look!
(Yes, I took pictures of pictures - I couldn't really scan them).
I remember love, laughter, lots of family dinners, and time around the piano. Once when we visited, Grandpa met us at our car and told us Grandma had just gotten her hair done, and it would make her feel extra special if we said something to her when we went into the house. I remember they were always having coffee together when we'd come down in the morning - sometimes talking, sometimes not, just enjoying time with each other.
That love? The best kind of vintage I could ever hope for.
Is there a "vintage" love story you're inspired by?
(And a huge shout out to my Aunt Susie who slogged through a super slow internet connection to tell me where these pictures were taken!)

I am most definitely inspired by my grandparents' love. They were married for 63 years and I never once saw them say a cross word to each other! They were so in love. My grandfather could not bear to be apart from my grandma. I remember when my brother got married, the guys went out for lunch and the girls when out for lunch and my grandpa told my dad/brothers that he couldn't wait to get back to my grandma. Um, that was after like 60 years of marriage! Amazing right?
My grandparents made it their life's mission to make the other person happy. They have a one-of-a-kind love. As i write this, I wonder how my grandma carries on without him... It's been 2 years since he passed, I don't how she does it...
LOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a shining example of marriage they were to us all. Thanks for sharing.
I love this post! What amazing photos & memories. XOXO
What amazing history you have in those photos! Such great memories. Just think, some day your grandkids will be remembering stories about you and the mister and thinking of you as an inspiration!
I'm so charmed! This post just put me in a good mood! Adorable.
My grandparents. It's hard to see my grandpa without his Junebug. And I honestly am impressed he is still with us.
This post is adorable. ADORABLE. I love that your grandpa met you at the car once to say that your grandma had just got her hair done and you guys should comment on it. That is so f-ing cute.
I love this post and I'm also inspired by both sets of grandparents. One side I believe has been married for like close to 70 years and they are 90 now. It's amazing. The other were not married as long because my grandfather passed away at age 66. However, they did raise 8 kids together and they were still so cute together :)
I loved this post! What an adorable photograph... I remember when my dad came back from England a year or two ago with boxes of stuff that my nan (his mum) had kept stored for about forty years... seeing photos, letters, cards from my grandad... it was amazing. I think it's so important to leave stories for future generations - can you imagine how different it'll be now we're in the digital age?
How sweet is this? I love it (the frames, the stories, the pictures).
Dear B, these pictures got me kinda misty-eyed. Pictures are such a wonderful piece of life and form of art. Bravo on stumbling across them and I love your vintage idea.
I'm sitting here "stunned" having just spent two solid days in a writers conference.
I should be writing. I believe this comment should count!
