Deliciousness that goes down smooth

Happy Tuesday! I hope you all had a lovely long weekend!

Each week I'm going to share a recipe I've found, and my experience in making it. Twelve weeks of summer, a dozen recipes to explore. I've tried new recipes before, but I really want to enjoy the time in the kitchen that it takes for me to create these. Whether they turn out well or not, I want to find joy in baking or cooking.

I've been trying to make some recipes that would be good for summer - so this week I thought I'd change it up a bit and try something a little out of my comfort zone. I'm not a huge fan of smoothies, and I can count on one hand the number of times I've used our blender, but these looked so good (and simple!) that I figured I'd give it a shot.

Kristal's Green Smoothies - She talks about making them, but her exact recipe can be found here. I'd heard of people making green smoothies - but the idea of putting spinach into a smoothie freaked me out a little. However, I can honestly say you do not taste it.

I feel like every week I say the recipes I make are easy, but this is so past easy it's not even funny! Take a few yummy ingredients...put them into a blender...

Pulse it for a few minutes to get it going, then blend...

...and enjoy!

Like I said, I'm not normally a smoothie kind of person, but these were pretty tasty - and so healthy. Although I'd definitely recommend having someone to share it with - it makes a lot!

Do you like smoothies? Have you ever made "green" smoothies? What's a good "summer" recipe you've tried lately?

Yum! I make green smoothies all the time. I use almond milk (or regular milk) lots of spinach, a frozen banana and almond butter. Sometimes I'll put some strawberries in there. Mine are BRIGHT green! Love them :)

I am a fan of smoothies and they have been a summer staple this season. I don't, however, usually add spinach. I can't get past the green color it turns my smoothie. I am impressed that this one didnt turn green. Maybe I will get brave and try it.

I have only made one and I like it initially bit struggled to finish it.... It was the ingredients in chose though. I put banana and pb in mine and while I like both infredients i apparently dont like them in a smoothie!! I would try your version tho!!

I make green smoothies for Ariel almost every day! As long as I throw in a few grapes or strawberries for sweetness, I can pack it FULL of green veggies and she chugs it down. It's an excellent way to sneak vegetables past her stubborn toddler ideas! My favorite is cucumbers and peaches, though. It sounds weird, but it's soooo cooling and refreshing!

I made a green smoothie once and it wasn't too bad, but I'm not a big fan of smoothies themselves so I really don't know why I tried, ha! Yours actually look yummy!

I used to make "Green Monsters" but my rice milk would always go bad before I used it up. I kind of fell off the band-wagon.
