Sassy and patriotic

Happy hump day! This month's color was just in time for the 4th of July! A little bit sassy, and quite patriotic.

I'd never used Elf nail polish before, but a friend of mine gave it to me and since I'm expanding my repertoire beyond just OPI, I thought I'd give it a try.

I really liked the color, but it took three coats to look smooth, and it seemed to chip pretty easily. Plus, I was a little sad it didn't have a clever name. (The bottom of the bottle simply says Light Red).

Conclusion? Worth it because it was free and is pretty, but not something I'd get again.

What do you think? Do you buy nail polish based on the color or a fun name? (Or both?)

What's your color of the month?

I just bought a really nice color called torquoise & caicos by Essie. I haven't tried it yet because I mostly just got it for the pedicure I'm getting right before my beach trip. I usually just buy polish based on the color, but it's always fun for it to have a unique name!

I am wearing a light pink color that they put on my nails when i got my pedicure on Saturday. It was an OPI polish but I can't remember the clever name. Something perfection or something? It's kind of the color they would use on a french manicure. But it has already chipped. :( Which is why I don't paint my nails!! On my toes, I have a silver color that has a BIT of glitter in it - not a lot though. i don't want to look like a teenager. I really like it. it's called Lucerine or something like that?

I thought of you when I was organizing my bathroom as I own like 2 bottles of nail polish! I was like - Becky would be staging an intervention if she lived here. :) If I could actually paint my nails, I would. But i can't. Nor can I sit still long enough to let them dry. I have Ben's ADD when it comes to things like that!

Don't laugh but i bought my FIRST Opi nail polish this month! Boy that stuff lasts, too - not a chip to be seen on my toes.

Strange as it may seem, I have been ridiculously into Mauve these days... The nail lady makes me feel like I am absolutely crazy but I think it looks so good. Matches with all my ensembles.

UMM can it be November now? Because we need to meet.

"Light Red" -- That's a bummer! I'm in need of Essie's Ballerina Pink or something like that. My friend had it on, and it lasted and looked beautiful as a clear-but-not-really-clear coat. What's your experience with Essie?

I love me some nail polish. I've never tried elf. I've found that over the years paying a little bit extra for nicer nailpolish means its lasts a little longer. I'm an OPI girl. I've been paying at bit more attention to Essie polishes but I haven't bought any yet.

I love Elf for their cheap prices (their lash curler is my absolute favorite and it's only $1!)

You would be proud of me - I went all minimalist on my polish collection. No more duplicate shades. I kept my favorite formulas and gave the rest away. :))

I want to start painting my nails again regularly because otherwise I chew them and they don't grow!! I think I'm just going to have to start spending the $10 bi-weekly on getting a polish done at my local salon - I really do SUCK at painting them myself and don't really enjoy it at all!

My last nail polish purchase was $1.99 per bottle at Walgreens in really fun and bright crazy summer colors. Like REALLY bright. I'm in love with them :)

I prety much only wear hot pink except for when I bought a different color for my sil's wedding this year. I usually buy the cheapest kind haha. But, I can be convinced by the fast drying ones.

I love OPI too. It really is the best. Have you tried their RapiDry top coat? It's kinda of pricey but it is so worth it. It makes my nails looks super shiny and it dries FAST!
Right now I have on OPI Strawberry Margarita :)
