In the spirit of trying different brands of nail polish (and not just sticking to my beloved OPI), this month I wanted to try an Essie color. After some help from twitter, I took my suggestions and headed to Ulta.
However, all suggestions flew out the window when I saw this red. I was drawn to the color, and when I looked on the bottom, the name was Fishnet Stockings. Sold. (You know how I feel about clever names).
What I found though, is once the color really settled on my nails after a day it got darker which is an effect I loved. This was the first picture I took, right after I painted my nails with two coats of polish. (Excuse the awkwardness of it, I'm still adjusting to photographing my hands!)
(Why yes, I am a messy nail polish painter).
Bright and red, right? But then this is what it looked like after two days...
It's almost like a totally different color - and I love it! I got a little brightness but also a deep red out of it. Now, if all the Essie colors do this, I could see this being a problem, but for me this was simply an added bonus.
Have you ever had this happen with an Essie nail polish? Are you as amused as I am by clever names? What's your color of the month?
Happy hump day!

Oh, I like that color. It's perfect for fall. I haven't tried any Essie nail polish before, but I really, really want to!
My turquoise & caicos does the same thing... It's really bright, but then it darkens up a bit after a day or two.
That is a great color! I love a good clever name and almost bought an Essie polish yesterday, but then I opened the bottle to look at the brush....and immediately put it back on the shelf. I'm completely spoiled by OPI's wide brush.
Love the color! I'm a complete sucker for a cleverly named polish. :)
My Essie Van D'Go - it oxidized and was not as pretty after a couple days. It worked in your favor, though, with this color. It's pretty in both photos! :)
I have not tried Essie before. I'm still stuck on my cheap stuff from Walgreens. =)I do love creative nail polish names though!
We should have a manicure party! I never paint my nails, although I have the best of intentions. I have a couple Essie polishes...but I have yet to use them. Shame!
That's awesome how it changed colour! Love it!
You are inspiring me to paint my nails more. THen maybe I'd stop chewing them :)
I dig the deeper red. It would look lovely in the fall! A lot of OPI names crack me up!
I love your dedication to nail polish. :) I've always bought the cheap stuff, personally. Everyone's tweets and posts about nail polish makes me want to get into this thing! Hehe.
I so thought you were going to say that you wore fishnet stockings and I was thinking - wow, hot gutsy! :) Looks wonderful. I have so few colors, as you know, and paint my nails like twice a year. ;P
