Peaches, hippos, and jewelry

I feel like I say this every month but can you believe it's August?

Each month I share a new recipe I've tried, something I've read and want to recommend, and something I am craving, want really need.

Eat it: Peach Pie - Okay, I'm not going to lie. I did not make this recently. I've had too much happening with the move, but Mandy shared this recipe with me last year, I made it, and loved it!

Ingredients

Filling
4 cups (about six) unsweetened sliced peaches
1 cup sugar, divided
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup (8 ounces) sour cream

Topping
1/3 cup sugar
1/3 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 cup cold butter

Directions: Press crust into 9-inch pie plate. For filling, place peaches in a large bowl; sprinkle 1/4 cup sugar and toss gently to coat. In another small bowl, combine the flour, egg, vanilla, salt and remaining sugar; fold in sour cream. Stir into peaches. Pour into crust. Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes. Reduced heat to 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Remove pie from oven and increase heat to 450 degrees.

For topping, in a small bowl, combine the sugar, flour and cinnamon. Cut in butter until crumbly. Sprinkle over top of pie. Bake 15 minutes longer (at 450 degrees), or until topping is browned. Cool on a wire rack. Store in refrigerator. Yields 6-8 servings.

Read it: Hippos Go Beserk! by Sandra Boynton - We got this for our niece as part of her birthday gift this year, and the mister and I want to get another copy for us. It is hilarious and adorable and it makes me laugh so much!

Need it: The Miss Lyndsi necklace from SunshineandCarousels' Etsy shop. It makes me yearn for fall, and I love the name!

Are you a fan of peach pie? Do you love Hippos Go Beserk! too? Anything you want to share today - something to eat, read, or need?

Kids books often crack me up. My favorite are the Llama Llama books. I ALWAYS request that one of those books is part of the selection that I read to my nephews. I will have to check out that Boynton book!

Happy Moving day!!

We have a Sandra Boynton book (I think it's called Snuggle Puppy) that my girls absolutely LOOOOOVE. And I think it's cute, thank goodness, because I have to read it like nine times a day!

that necklace! I love it!

I love kid books! I think I have read this book before... our newest favorite is something about a pigeon who won't go to sleep. It's totally ridiculous and makes no sense, but Knight reads in in a Mr. T voice and the girls go wild for it. It's quite hilarious in fact.

Hope move stuff has gone/is going well! <3

Kate is Sandra Boynton fan - she loves all her books. And they are nice and quick, which I like too :) Good luck today!
