So my birthday turned into a birthday weekend, which morphed into the best birthday ever. It started with Chipotle with my sister, and brunch at my apartment with some of my best girls. I could tell you about it...or I could just show you. (Warning: photo heavy post!)
Yes those are strawberries, marshmallows, and rice krispie treats - and yes they were for the chocolate fondue that was the dessert portion of the brunch.
Oh these? Edible acorns. And by edible I mean hershey's kisses, nilla wafers, and peanut butter. (The brunch also included homemade vanilla whipped cream. Yeah. My friends are amazing).
After a mimosa or two, the mister and I visited with my fabulous in-laws (who made me delicious ice cream cakes!), and I prepared for the birthday adventure tradition that happens every year with my best friend Megan.
We went to the Botanical Gardens in D.C. and beautiful doesn't even begin to describe it. The weather was perfect - and the colors of all the different flowers and plants were amazing!
The most relaxing part of the gardens was the Southern Exposure area, but the most beautiful part was the orchid room. Seriously people, these pictures don't do it justice.
(The sign says lipstick plant - get it?)
Beware: Brain Cactus is one of the endangered species of plants...I don't want to wonder why.
After we finished touring the gardens we walked over to the Capitol - and what's a trip into D.C. without a weird (although quite peaceful) protestor?
(Big building. Little Becky).
The weekend was capped off with dinner at my parents, and when I got home I just sat for a few minutes marveling at how loved I felt. Thank you for all the emails/tweets/comments - it meant so much! I have a feeling this is going to be a great year.
How was your weekend? Happy Monday!
