Eat It, Read it, Need it - the fall edition

Aaaand, summer's over. In my mind it's not officially over until next week (after the Labor Day holiday), but it's September, and to me that means falls!

Each month I share a new recipe I've tried, something I've read and want to recommend, and something I am craving, want really need.

Eat it: Pumpkin Bread - In an effort to make fall come sooner I've been making pumpkin bread like it's my job. (I may or may not have made three loaves in two weeks). I actually thought this recipe belonged to my grandma so I checked with my mom to make sure I could share it on the blog. When I texted her to ask about grandma's recipe, my mom's response was, "It's not hers. It is better than hers. Share away." (Ha! Sorry grandma!) My mom did say she got the recipe from her friend Laurel, so she, dear readers is who you have to thank for this deliciousness.

Ingredients:
1 and 3/4 cups sifted flour
1 and 1/2 cups sugar
1/2 teaspoon ginger
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon all-spice
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup canned pumpkin
1/2 cup vegetable oil (I sometimes substitute this for applesauce)
2 eggs
1/4 cup water (I usually add a teeny bit more too - not quite up to 1/2 cup)

Directions: Combine dry ingredients. Make a well in the mixture and add the remaining ingredients and mix. Pour into loaf pan and bake at 350 degrees for one hour or until done. (I normally use a dark loaf pan so I usually only bake mine for about 50 minutes).

It's best if you let it sit overnight before eating. Enjoy! (And trust me, you will!)

Read it: Katy's post from yesterday about September Eve. Love love love love it!

Need it: Gem Stone by the Sea Stacking Rings

I've ordered items from this Etsy shop before, and her work is beautiful. I'm not normally drawn to these types of colors (I'm more of a earth-tone type of girl), but I think these rings are gorgeous and whimsical!

Have you been trying to force fall to come early? Are you ready for lots of obnoxious wonderful fall-related posts from me? Anything you want to share today - something to eat, read, or need?

Happy September!

(Psst - head over to the love letter site to check out my post about leaving my first love letter!)

I am a huge fan of pumpkin especially pumpkin bread. I love those rings. I love the colors and the way that they compliment each other. I am definitely ready for fall. I've been eyeing my fall nailpolish colors and am ready to bust the out. Oh and scarves, I'm ready to wear them again too.

I am definitely ready for fall. I love summer, but I am sort of over the heat. I need to remember that I said I was ready for summer to be over when I want to complain about winter. ;)
