Pretty but functional

When we moved, the mister and I had to figure out how to make things work in the space we have, and while we've tried to be more minimalistic, we still have stuff. I want where we live - whether it's a one-bedroom apartment or a huge house - to feel homey, not just a hodgepodge of clutter. I figured this series would be a fun way to share!

Last week I showed our outdoor fall decorations, so this week I thought I'd give you a peek into the ones inside as well. We have limited space in our living room so I try to balance comfort (i.e. pillows) with not cluttering up our seating options.

I couldn't fit our whole living area in one picture (oh wide angle lens how I want you), but this gives you an idea. There's an end table tucked on the other side of the couch, the space is open, but there's more places to sit than just the couch.
The ottoman acts as extra seating, we keep blankets inside of it, and when it's just the mister and me, it's easy to pull in front of the couch to prop up our feet!

(And what's fall without a little color on your table?)

I actually don't do a whole lot of seasonal decorating, so next week I will share my love for baskets and the clutter they hide the organization they provide.

Do you decorate for the seasons? Do you have small spaces to work with in your home? How do you get the most out of your space?

I so do not decorate for the seasons, besides Christmas! I am so lazy... and I guess I am just not much of a 'homemaker' in general. Maybe if I lived with someone else, I would make more of an effort, but it seems like a lot of work for just me to see it! But your place looks so cozy and seasonal!! Love it!

Okay, I always want to decorate for the seasons...but I just can't get into it! Maybe I will try this year, start small ;) Perhaps I could do a wreath. I love your series - great idea!

How cute! I love your furniture! The next furniture I get I WILL splurge on leather. What I have now is suede and it's just not practical. The dogs and various spills have pretty much wrecked it. My parents have leather and although it cost an arm and a leg it has lasted forever and still looks new.
Love your fall decorations! I need to get better at decorating for the seasons. I am terrible at it.

I have that bench, too! Love it - easy to clean, too. Love fall!!!

That sofa looks so comfortable! We have a pretty small space too, but it's oddly-shaped... like a really long L. We did some pretty interesting things to break it up, so I'll have to take some pictures and share them :)

I've never done seasonal decorating before (mostly because I lived with huge groups of people before) but I am this year! Mike will be taking a long-overdue motorcycle trip this weekend with one of his friends so I am on my own to wreak havoc, er, decorate our apartment for autumn!

CUTE! I love your seasonal blanket and cushion and seasonal table! I don't do ANY seasonal decorating but I should, it's a nice touch!

Cute! I don't really do seasonal decorating, save for some lights etc. at Christmas.

Your place looks so cute! I'm dying to invest in some cute seasonal decorations. I fear I'll eventually become one of those women who goes NUTS for holiday decor. It will probably be tacky.

Love the seasonal touches to your apartment! Seasonal decorating is one of things I'm most looking forward to in GA. My mom always had different things for different season, not over the top decorations but just little things here and there. Your place looks so cozy and homey.
