Let's just say mmm...

Each month I share a new recipe I've tried, something I've read and want to recommend, and something I am craving, want really need.

Eat it: Baked Apples - My friend Danielle brought these to our fancy book club and they were amazing! The recipe says to core the apples and fill them with the sauce, but mine didn't really stay together so I just did apple slices instead. I tripled the amount for the sauce, and at one point I may or may not have uttered the words "I want to bathe in these apples." Yeah. It's like that.

Read it: A Year Without Made in China: One Family's True Life Adventure in the Global Economy by Sara Bongio - I found this book in a used bookstore and thought it sounded interesting. A family decided to not buy anything with a "made in China" label for a whole year, to see if it was possible, and how much the American economy was dependent on China. I figured even if it was dry writing, there would probably be some good anecdotes, but it was so much more. The author is engaging and funny, and she really pulls you into all the different emotions and thoughts she has over the course of the year. I'm going to review this more thoroughly soon, but I would highly recommend it!

Need it: This charcoal and mustard pouch from Jenny's shop, Secret Nook. I stumbled upon this recently and it not only seems perfect for fall, but also just the right size to fit all the little things I don't want loose in my purse.

Have you ever made baked apples? Can you imagine trying to buy completely handmade (or something to that extent) for a year? Do you "sub-bag" things in your purse or are you a throw-it-in-there-and-dig-for-it-later kind of gal?

What do you want to share today - something to eat, read, or need?

Happy October!

I LOVE baked apples and make them often in the fall/winter. I like to top pancakes, waffles or french toast with them :)

I am someone who would benefit from a little bag like that. I often joke that my purse is like Mary Poppin's carpet bag and that I could freaking pull a lamp out of there. Ha. I am always digging around for my keys or chapstick or whatever. I guess it adds to my absent minded professor personality.

Those baked apples sound amazing. I am all about baked fruit of any sort!

We did a handmade only Christmas one year, and it was fine because we're all crafty!
