Loving the unexpected

Another month, another polish! I'm really excited about this month's color - it was my first time ever using Butter London nail polish, and I have to admit, I'm hooked. This brand of nail polish is non-toxic which is great, but after a little reading, I love them even more because I didn't realize how many gross/toxic ingredients there were in nail polishes. I'm officially a fan.

I also have to admit I didn't choose this nail polish color myself. Awhile ago Ulta was having a buy one, get one free sale on Butter London polishes, and I asked the mister if he wanted to come Ulta with me. His response? "It's a trap." (Ben has a problem with not touching things in stores and has on multiple occasions accidentally sprayed himself with perfume while we've been there).

He ended up going with me and when I started looking at polish colors, I was automatically gravitating toward the reds. Ben rolled his eyes, told me I had too many reds, and that I should pick a different shade. I offered a challenge of him choosing a polish for me.

He picked Wallis.

I told him it made me want to throw up a little, and that I would never choose that for myself. Ben said that's exactly why I needed to get it, and that because I was pale it would look good against my skin tone plus it would pick up the warm undertones of gold in my eyes and hair. (Nice, right? Being married to an artist who knows his color theory can be awesome).

I figured why not, and that night I put it on. When I crawled into bed and told him I loved it he mumbled, "I told you." Then he said "you have to tell your readers I picked it!"

So without further ado, I give you...Wallis.

The lighting isn't the best in this picture, but trust me, this color is fabulous. I love it. It might be my latest obsession.

Do you have this shade of nail polish? Do you try to get out of your comfort zone sometimes? What's your color of the month?

I never wear nail polish.. it cheaps straight off my nails and anyway, my stubby little fingers are not an asset I want to draw attention to!
But when I see a shade like this, I want to! It looks so good!

Wow, way to go Ben! Maybe he should pick out a nail polish for me! :) I hadn't heard of this brand before, but I saw it in a window display in Victoria this weekend. The color they showed was beautiful, but once again, I resisted buying it because I can not paint my own nails. :( My nails have been painted ONCE this year... and that was when I got a manicure during my spa weekend!

I think us girls need to get together and go to Ulta - and Ben is officially invited to give us color advice :) I love that color! I need to get myself some green. I tend towards the neutrals, but I think I need to spice it up!

I love it! It really does look good on you. I'd like to try a color like this, but I'm not sure if I will be able to pull it off.

I love the story behind it, too. Way to go Ben!! :)

I am not bold when it comes to nail polish. When I get my pedis done, I almost always pick a pink or red or reddish purple hue. I once did a blue that was horrid, but matched my formal dress (I was young!) and then I also did yellow not too long ago, but that just made me look fugusy. I really want to try a dark charocoal for fall, but I'm not brave. I also have this deep desire to try London Park after Dark, but I'm barely brave enough to go for a non red, much less, almost black.

the color looks great on you! good job ben! i love obscure colors and i fell in love with Wallis when i saw it on Ashley's blog. "out of my comfort zone" polishes are classic neutrals and reds and pinks haha!

I read a lot about nail polishes too and now I only use natural nail polishes. I have used Zoya so far, but I would really like to try Butter. But IT IS expensive.

For the record, I feel your first feelings on that color. Guess I am going to have to see it in person! But go Ben for actually going with you!

I love it! It does go great with your skin tone. I bet Ben could totally charge women for helping them find the perfect shade! Can Ben pick a color for me? I need a good turquoise shade but can't find just the right one. I've been wearing grays and purples. Just because. =)

It's not an accident!!!! the designers specifically work on their products aesthetic design so they look like there are no buttons when in fact they most certainly DO have buttons. That is the definition of a trap. This is done on purpose to "spring" fragrances most of the time on unsuspecting guinea pigs (men) that are shopping with their significant others so they don't have to spray themselves. TRAP!
