Quite lovely

This past weekend was my best friend Megan's birthday. True to our tradition, I planned the event, she didn't know what we were doing, and we had a great time! I have to admit, half the fun of our "birthday adventure" tradition is the surprise of it all. I could tell you what we did...or I could just show you.

I will share the "instructions" I sent to Meg about how to have a great birthday - you can be the judge of whether or not we followed through.

1. Rise and shine with a smile, and be ready at 10 AM to be picked up for the birthday "event."

 2. Arrive at said event by 11 AM.

3. Delight in the awesome-ness of birthday event.

4. Dress semi-fancy.

5. Arrive back at my place to partake of wine, cheese, meat, etc. as we laugh the afternoon away, watching anything of the birthday girl's choosing.
(Yes that is an owl wine opener that says "hootch owl." It was awesome & very efficient!)

It was so much fun! We went to The British Pantry - a place I learned about when Ashley blogged about it. I made a reservation for us to have m'lady tea which included sandwiches, scones, and delicious tea. It was quiet and sweet, and gave us the opportunity to talk the morning away. We want to make it a monthly excursion!

Do you have any fun birthday adventures or traditions? How was your weekend?

That looks SO FUN!!!! I would love to have a simple birthday celebration like that but most of my best girlfriends who would do it with me don't live here.

Good job planning an awesome birthday surprise, Becky!

okay, i'm not gonna lie. i didn't actually go to a proper "tea" in england, but i heard all about them. and that looks about as accurate as you can get for being across the Pond! <3

That sounds like so much fun. You always think of the most perfect things to do. So the next time I'm in DC I'm basically going to insist that we go there. Ok?

That looks like SO much fun. I am glad you girls had a special day together. I love how you plan these big excursions together to celebrate your birthdays and how they are a surprise. It sounds absolutely perfect to me. And that owl bottle opener? Adorable!!

I don't have a big birthday tradition... Mostly I try to get a group of people together for drinks and games, which is my ideal way to celebrate my special day!
