Unplugging

Happy Monday! Thanks for all the well wishes on our anniversary. It kind of snuck up on us this year so we didn't have big plans, which ended up being perfect.

We always "unplug" on our anniversary. We turn off computers, cell phones, and we have a day just for us. Some years that involves hilarious surprises, but this year it was taking our time over coffee, visiting the church where we got married, some reading and relaxing on our patio, and a trip to the first Steak 'n Shake in Virginia. We didn't wear watches or worry about how long anything was or had been taking. Simply lovely.

(One of his co-workers made this for us and sang a little "happy anniversary" song - so sweet!)
(We didn't get married outside but this is the outdoor chapel where we took some pictures after our ceremony - beautiful no?)

This is one of the many reasons I know the mister and I are made for each other. Because no one else gets as excited about Steak 'n Shake as I do...except Ben.

Do you have a place that makes you relax and unwind - even if no one else gets it?  How was your weekend? Happy Thanksgiving to all my Canadian friends!

Pretty pics.. I'm lactose intolerant but they make me want a milkshake so bad!!!
I love the idea of 'unplugging' think I might suggest it to the other half, it just sounds so relaxing!

My favorite place to unwind - the gym! It's the only place where I'm not taking care of someone or something. Also, my group exercise classes get my blood pumping and help me gradually ease into my day.

It looks like you two had a wonderful time! The outside of that chapel is gorgeous, a perfect place to tie the knot. :)

I don't really feel like we have a place to go and unwind at, other than our house. I've been wanting to become "regulars" somewhere, but we're still trying to find it.

What a great day! You both are so sweet. ;)

We do not have Steak and Shake here, and the first time I had it, I was not expecting what it really was. It's fun, I just didn't think it was greasy hamburgers!! lol

I love Steak 'n Shake! There was one very close to my college in Ohio, and since it was open 24 hours, it was the perfect place to go for a late night study break.

Also, are your boots from Target? I think I have the same ones if so. :)

Love the story of your first anniversary trip - what a great surprise! I took Larry on a surprise trip for his birthday this year, but he knew we were going somewhere - he just didn't know where. There's no way I could've pulled off what you did!

OH MAN STEAK AND SHAKE. Chili five way. Delicious shakes. Mmmm. We don't have it here in California and every time we go home to Illinois to visit Andrew's family I insist that we go. Usually more than once.

This looks like a pretty perfect anniversary to me!

I'm glad you had such a lovely anniversary! I love Steak N Shake!

Husband & I relax and unwind on our living room couch. Thursday nights are our FAVORITE because we catch up on all of our favorite tv shows. We both don't have school on Thursday, and now I'm off work on Friday, so we can just stay up late watching tv and then sleep in the next morning.

We also love fall night drives and going to the park.

Looks like a lovely weekend to me! I have never been to steak and shake!! How is that possible?

The place that makes me relax and unwind is an obvious one - my parents cabin. I love pulling up on a Friday night when the lake is light glass. I kind of let out a big exhale and my pulse slows and I feel much better...

I love that you and Ben went to Steak and Shake, I still don't get the obsession but I fully support it. You and Ben are so perfect together. Love you both. I love going to the cemetery that overlooks my town and the river. Its so peaceful there.
