Ice and cookies

Ohhh, what a weekend. The end of my week was not great, so I was looking forward to a couple of days where I could relax but also be productive. Well, one out of two isn't bad.

Saturday morning found me cleaning the kitchen, listening to podcasts, doing the dishes, and preparing to bake some cookies. I was in the laundry room (which is off of our kitchen), moving a couple of things around and I was getting ready to walk out when something started making a noise. I turned back only to watch our ten pound metal step ladder that had been leaning up again the wall come crashing down right on my bare foot.

I kind of stood there in shock for a minute and then started swearing. (Oh, friends, I think I invented a few words). I didn't break anything, but since it hit the top and the side of my foot I spent the rest of the day sitting on the couch, icing it and taking ibuprofen. So much for productivity. (I think it's a bone bruise and I later told Ben I thought I was cheated because there should at least be an ugly mark to show for the pain I was in!)

Sunday though, I could carefully walk, and after some more icing, I made it over to Darcie's annual cookie exchange. Every year we all bring two dozen or so cookies, sample them, drink cider, laugh, talk, and then head home with a few of each different kind of treats.

Yesterday was just what I needed.

(And what's a cookie exchange without a handsome little charmer?)

A good time was definitely had by all! I came home, wrote some letters for the 12 days of love letter writing, iced my foot some more, and called it a night. Here's hoping I can walk like a normal person today.

How was your weekend? When was the last time your day (or weekend) didn't go as expected? Did you fight it or just roll with the punches?

(Be sure to check out the love letter blog - today's request - and the response we're already getting is incredible).

Oh, I'm sorry to hear about your foot. My weekend actually went okay except that I got absolutely drenched yesterday. I was wet all the way to my underwear. Not fun but nowhere near as bad as your accident.Get better soon!

My weekend was good. I spent Fri night & most of Sat prepping for Saturday night's fiesta. I spen most of Sunday on the couch reading. It was a good mix of being productive and relaxing!

Those cookies look amazing. I may have to try to convince my friends we need a cookie exchanging party!

Oh yes, I have definitely had those days where everything "goes to pot" as they say and I have had to start all over with the plans or make new ones. Often it's a blessing in disguise but other times it's just a pain in the butt! Glad that you didn't break anything and that you got time with friends, babies and baked goods!

That sucks about your foot :( I'm so glad it didn't hurt you more seriously though, that sounds like it could have been bad!! I hope you're back to 100% soon!

That cookie party looks like so much fun! I've always wanted to host one, but never got it together enough to do it. Maybe next year...
