It's time we had a chat

Dear Mother Nature,

I've always been a fan of yours - the way you create seasons blows me away. (No pun intended). While I'm not that into spring or summer (allergies, sunburns, etc), I understand there needs to be a little bit of something for everyone. Besides, I love fall, and winter isn't far behind. There's something about the cool air that's rejuvenating. You can be truly amazing.

But you're also pissing me off.

I live in Northern Virginia. Vir-gin-ia. Not California, or Florida, or any other state that is periodically warm throughout the typical "winter" months. So could you please tell me why we've been experiencing temperatures close to 60 degrees lately? Sixty degrees. It's January! I'm not requesting blizzards or sub-zero temperatures, but an average around 30 wouldn't kill you, would it?

So here's my request, woman-to-woman. Get your act together.

Everyone has been tiptoeing around you, but I think it's time you hear some tough love. I'm telling you this for your own good because right now you're acting like a stereotypical woman who constantly changes her mind. You're better than that.

Or are you? You've been doing this for awhile now. I can understand growing tired, but maybe you just don't have it anymore.

That's right. The gauntlet has been thrown. You gonna show me what you've got or are you going to keep hiding behind random "chilly" days?

And don't think you can keep it cold through April and skip right to summer, either.

Sincerely,
Someone who'd like to use her winter coat

P.S. Global warming? You're next. Consider yourself warned.

Ha, you make me smile Becky. :) We have had a mild winter here so I am not complaining, but I sure wanted to complain last week when it was -30 with the windchill... which is pretty 'normal' for us so I couldn't be mad at mother nature... Too bad you can't have the temps we are having now. It's been in the mid-20s to mid-30s so perfect winter coat weather.

YES. Mother Nature is doing the same nonsense here, and I am NOT a fan!

I have to admit I'm LOVING our mild winter up here!!! But I wouldn't mind a little more snow. Going from 10 C one week to -30 C and then back to 10 C is a little extreme.

I'm so glad someone else feels this way! So many people are all, "I LOVE WARM WEATHER," & I'm like, "Can I get a normal winter up in here?" I live in NEW HAMPSHIRE, & we have had exactly TWO instances of snow. One of those? Was on Halloween. Also not OK.

I must say, I am loving the unseasonable weather :) But what I am tired of is the rain! Oh, the rain! It makes me miserable. I am going to need one of those SAD lamps if we don't get some sun sunny days!

I totally agree with you! Spring and summer are my least favorite, and I am dying for it to be consistently in the 30s for a week+. I want to wear my sweaters, my winter coat, and bundle up. I absolutely hate it. Please, Mother Nature, listen to Becky!

Hahahahahaha :) You made me laugh out loud - I love this! I couldn't agree with you more. This "winter" weather is crazy and it needs to get back to normal. Thanks for giving Mother the tough love for us :)

I'm totally with you! However, as a teacher, I wouldn't mind some snow days :) No blizzards, but a couple inches would be cool!

I'm feeling you. Although, I'm in TN and definitely wouldn't want any snow. But I would like a consistent cooling.

Yeah let's get back to normal winters here!

I'm missing out on one of the perks of winter... instant ice cold water out of the faucet!

It must be like this everywhere! Most people assume Texas stays pretty warm, but I live in the most northern part and we have EXTREME weather. We can have 6 inches of snow one day, and it be 80 degrees the next. But here lately, our weather has been warmer than normal. Last winter it stayed around the 20s most of the time, which was TOO cold for my liking. But this winter we have had more days over 60 than not. So weird!
