More fancy Fridays

My plan was to show you all the progress I made this weekend purging our walk-in closet. I was on a roll after taking care of our linen closet last week, but yesterday afternoon found me laid up on the couch feeling crappy, so the closet isn't quite finished.

Instead, I thought I'd show you the most fabulous Friday night ever. (It's okay to be excited).

Let me just start by saying my book club is awesome. We visit houses, masonic temples, and have fancy meals. Last Friday evening upped the bar even more. We read The Bungalow by Sarah Jio as our book, and not only did we have a great time catching up and talking about it, but we actually spoke to Sarah herself!

But first...we had chocolate-covered strawberries.

It was so cool to be able to talk to the author of the book we had read! She simply called us, and I put it on speaker phone while we asked Sarah about inspiration, process, and so many aspects of the story. I felt like we were talking to a celebrity, only a really grounded, super sweet, I-want-to-be-friends-with-her celebrity.
(I might have been a little excited).

We even got some information about Sarah's next novel coming out in September. I can't wait! All in all it was a wonderful way to spend a Friday night!

Are you part of a book club? Do you try to do activities that relate to the books you read? Have you ever gotten to speak to or meet an author or a book you've read?

You are adorable. :) What a fun night! I love chocolate covered strawberries!

I am part of 2 online book clubs - one that Emily hosts and then twookclub which Stephany hosts. Both have been great. Emily's has been going strong for over 2 years! I used to have a local club, but then the majority of the members had kids... and we fell apart. My friend Brooke wants to start another book club so hopefully we can make that work!

How fun! I'm not part of a book club at the moment, but I'm thinking of joining #twookclub next months. Y'all seemed like you were having so much fun last night!

Those chocolate covered strawberries look amazing!

Once of our authors CAME to our book club! She wrote Babylon Rolling, a book about New Orleans right before Katrina. Her viewpoint, from someone who moved from out of state, is similar to mine, so we had a lot in common in the way we regarded the city. Very interesting.

I wish I had a local bookclub!!! I just participate in two online ones right now.

I love that Sarah called you. That is so so so cool!

I've never had a book club but I wish I did. Meeting up with friends, eating straweberries covered with chocolate, reading and talking to the author sounds just like my kind of thing.

That is so awesome! The strawberries, I mean. Haha! But everything else, too. ;) And you got to talk to the author! That's the ultimate book club experience.

I tried getting a book club started once, but we had one meeting and then it fizzled. :( Maybe I'll try again soon.
