Every twenty minutes

This has been the most exhausting 24 hours of my life.

Yesterday morning in the middle of a conference call at work, the dizziness I'd been feeling slightly, turned into a full blown I-might-pass-out episode. Scary indeed.

I drank water, I sat for a bit, and then a co-worker (and dear friend!) brought me home. Before heading out I talked to Ben who told me he was sick at home. Lovely, right?

Oh, sick doesn't even begin to cover it. We've determined it was food poisoning and I have never seen a case this bad. From four o'clock yesterday afternoon to 1 AM this morning I was giving him a spoonful of frozen Gatorade every twenty minutes, because that's all he could keep down. (This was after he'd been throwing up for about eight hours). I switched to liquid Gatorade, and then when I gave him some broth and he kept it down? It was a big moment people. (Around 2 AM I got up every three hours with Gatorade because I figured even though he was dehydrated, the sleep was better for him).

At this point we've moved past broth, he's had a banana, crackers, and we're about to try some rice. I never thought I'd be so excited about bland food.

As exhausting as this was, it was also terrifying. Ben and I have been married for almost five years and I've never seen him this sick. It's horrible to see the one you love in any kind of pain, especially when you can't fix it. Thank God for a mom who follows me on twitter (who sent my dad over with that first batch of Gatorade and chicken broth), and a mother-in-law who brought over medicine and talked me down when she could tell I was freaking out.

In sickness and health people. I probably woke Ben up more than necessary last night with the frozen Gatorade but I knew it was helping, and it was just as much for me as it was for him.

There was just something comforting to giving him that teaspoon and then whispering, "I love you. I'll be back in twenty minutes."

That sounds terrible. Poor Ben! I've had food poisoning once and it's awful, awful, awful. But I never had a case as bad as his. I'm glad he's on the mend!

Aw, you are a good wife! That is just terrible, though. Yikes. Dehydration is scary! I hope Ben is feeling better. It's almost like that dizzy spell was divine intervention as clearly Ben needed you at home!

It's probably the worst thing ever watching someone else in that condition. It always makes me wish I could take to for them. :(

Hope you're both 100% better now!

This post, apart from the sickness part, is so sweet. I love that you two took care of each other. The food poisoning however, totally not ok. I'm so sorry you guys were so sick :(
