Magical 2012: Little Moments to Treasure

First off, thank you for all your wonderful comments yesterday. I found myself tearing up more than once because of you all - in a good way of course!

I've talked a lot about how I'm determined to make 2012 a magical year for me. I have lots of goals and plans, and I love how my energy and enthusiasm for this hasn't waned. However, as fabulous as big plans are, it's the everyday things that get me through. So I'm starting a new series - each month I'll mention a few things from the previous month that were small, but lovely moments I don't want to forget. I'd love for you to share some of yours as well!

*Savoring that first sip of a frappuchino when I know I have a long day ahead of me - it couldn't have tasted better.

*Receiving a voice mail from our 11-year old nephew raving about the insulated cup we got him for Christmas. It was sweet and hilarious. (Note to self: straws that change colors are a big hit).

*Losing myself in a good book - or nine. (I posted about reading eight books but I finished another on January 31st so I officially read nine during that month!)

*Talking to the author of a book I read. Incredible!

*Relaxing afternoons of talking and reading in Chicago with these lovely ladies.

*Laughing with Ben over silly things that no one else would find funny, and being reminded once again how right we are, and how happy I am to be married to him.

*Deciding to grow out and donate my hair again. (Definitely more on this later - I think I'm a little insane but I'm gonna go for it!)

*Pushing myself with writing - I entered Stratejoy's Essay Contest and my essay is one of the finalists! I'll be posting again later today because that's when my essay is supposed to go live on the Stratejoy blog. I'll need your help for sure! I'd love for you to read my essay and then vote for it at the end of the month to help me win the $500 prize! I'm so honored to be among the finalists and yes I want to win, but I'm more proud of myself for what I wrote and how I'm pushing myself out of my comfort zone.

What magical moments do you want to remember from January?

Oh, and thanks to everyone who entered the giveaway! The lucky winner is Lauren! Shoot me an email to claim your books!

Becky, I really love this post! It's so important to savor those little moments in every day life and make them special :) That's the reason I started doing the "Everyday Moments" posts (one little thing a day, every day) because I love looking back on what little things each day made my day better.

Congrats on getting into the essay finalists on Stratejoy! How awesome :)

Wow, the Stratejoy bit is so amazing! I'm impressed but not at all surprised. As we say in Yiddish, yasher koach, or way to go! Can't wait to read it.

I love the idea of savoring these little moments. One came for me yesterday, when I got an email from a new blog reader who was worried she'd sound like a crazy person for emailing me. It was EXACTLY the kind of email I'd send, & I knew instantly that we'd get along. It made my day!

Congrats on making it to the StrateJoy Finals! You are awesome.

And nine books last month? You go, girl. That's inspiring.

Also, I can't wait to meet Ben.

Little moments are the best. I love savouring little moments like that, it makes life sweeter. One moment that I savoured lately was last night. I was running back up the hill to our house after run clinic and decided not to plug in my music. It was a quiet night with a clear blue sky and the stars looked SO bright PLUS there was a full moon! It was a great moment and I LOVED running during that moment :)

Glad you had such a great January and you were able to see some great small moments. I'm still so impressed with your reading! I don't know if I'll ever be able to read 9 books in a month!

I'm a book blogger and I talk to/meet my favorite authors all the time. It's INCREDIBLE! They're usually really open to talk to through Twitter or email (: sometimes it's crazy to think they're normal people like us lol!
