I have to share something. Remember when my family went to Ohio and surprised my Grandpa for his 90th birthday? A good time was had by all.

However. A small tragedy occurred as well. Oh don't worry, everyone is fine.

Except for my camera. My beautiful, fancy camera that has become like an extra appendage.

Long story short, there was an attachment on it that must have been too heavy because the lens literally fell out of the camera. At this point we think it's beyond repair and that we'll have to get a new lens - better than a whole new camera, but still a chunk of money.

I'm not too attached to a lot of material things, but I may have cried a little bit.

This camera has been around for a lot of great blogger moments - the first time I met Mandy and Nora in D.C., the first time I met Lisa and we saw the D.C. Cherry Blossoms, visiting Mandy and learning to make apple butter, going to Mount Vernon with Stephanie, even in Chicago in January it was there, braving the cold, helping me capture moments.

Why am I bringing this up now? Because Amber is visiting this weekend and it's her first time to D.C. I am beyond excited she's here and we're going to pack in lots of fun things in these few days, but I can't capture it the way I normally would. Oh sure we'll have phones, and Amber will have a camera (I'm sure Mandy will too - oh yeah, Mandy will be here as well!)'s just not the same.

I'm actually taking this weekend as an opportunity to enjoy the moment instead of observing from behind the lens, but don't be surprised if I tweet about going through withdrawals.

Are you attached to any material items? Are you big about taking pictures during events or do you let yourself enjoy the moment? (And if anyone wants to send me a 50 mm lens for a Canon, I'm open to that option. Kidding. Sorta).

Happy Friday!

Oh that is a big bummer! I totally understand why you are so sad that it broke. :(

I am really attached to my garmin that I use for running. I have had issues with it this summer as it's been wet as we've ran through some heavy rain - and it rained the entire marathon in 2010 and I don't think it is really water proof. I just really do not want to have to replace it because I just don't have the money in my budget right now for something like that!

First of all... you're sitting, like, 8 feet away from me and I am doing my normal morning blog reading in your apartment! Ahhh! ;)

I don't think I am attached to that many material things... My phone is probably the biggest thing, but I don't know if that counts because I would trade it in for the newer model in a heartbeat! (ha!)

There are some books that I would not part with in a million years and I really love my laptop... but again, I would trade it in for the newer model.

I am getting better about taking pictures in the moment, because I always feel regret after the moment for not taking pictures and I hate that feeling of regret!

I'm attached to all my technology (I mean I'd be fine with replacements but I need to them all)- phone, computer, and definitely, definitely camera. Part of my enjoying the moment is having my camera :) I hope you survive without it this weekend! Say hi to Mandy and Amber for me!

I actually don't use my big DSLR camera that much anymore at all. I use my iPhone more than anything! I do still pack my big camera around on trips though and I RARELY use my point-and-shoot as I think my iPhone takes just as good of photos and I like to instagram things :)

Oh, that's such a bummer! I use my point and shoot a lot, and definitely my iPhone but I don't take photos as much as I'd like of anything. I am totally going to fix this in the coming months with the shower, bachelorette party and etc. I'm kind of excited to have new and recent photos :)
