Success

Eight weeks ago I wrote encouraging notes in my planner, but honestly, I never thought I'd get to this one.
I did it. I did an eight-week sugar detox challenge, and while it was definitely hard at times, it was also incredibly rewarding, and now?

I'm finished.

Some stats:
*I have lost 7.2 pounds - this is incredible because it would normally take me twice as long to lose this (thank you PCOS)
*We haven't had white sugar in our house in five weeks and I don't plan on changing that
*We have natural sweeteners to replace the sugar (stevia, honey, agave, etc), but don't even use them that often
*We don't plan on going back to refined sugar anytime soon
*To celebrate us making it, I think I will try my hand at making Erin's Naturally Sweetened Peach Crisp

Ben and I are on a roll, and in order to keep our momentum going we're going to try a few more things to end out the summer. At the suggestion of my health consultant we are going to try one week of no dairy, and two weeks of no gluten. I can't wait to see what we learn in the next three weeks!

Have you ever done a detox? Was it successful? Any good non-dairy or gluten-free recipes you'd like to share?

Happy Friday!

I have SO many great gluten free recipes to share! Just let me know what you are in the mood for! I have great pasta recipes (using quinoa pasta), a great pot roast recipe that's perfect for fall, and that zucchini recipe I posted yesterday would be gluten free (just make sure you use a GF chicken sausage, like the brand Al Fresco).

I am so proud of you for finishing this! I am so glad you also got rewarded with some awesome results! :) way to go!!!!

Congratulations! That is huge and I bet you feel so great. Awesome results and the best part about it is you sound so happy and light (I'm pretty sure I'd be a hot, grumpy mess without sugar!)

I tend to go through a detox every Lent and most of the time I can keep it up but sometimes I fall off the band wagon.

Starting 9/4 I'm going no sugar myself and also will be reducing the amount of cheese and other dairy products I eat for operation Wedding!

Can't wait to hear how Phase 2 goes for you!

Is it weird to say I'm proud of you? Because I totally am. You rocked this!

How AWESOME!! I saw first hand how diligent you and Ben are with this and I have to admit, I am impressed! It is definitely inspiring!! I'm so glad you had good results. I cannot wait to see how the gluten and dairy free fairs for you. Dare I say, I kinda want to try it too??

So proud of you! I'm glad you're feeling better and congrats on the weight loss. I read somewhere once that sugar feeds cancer cells.. Not sure if that's true but it definitely freaked me out!

Can't wait to hear how no dairy and no gluten go for you!
