Planning means peace of mind

This picture has nothing to do with this post but I love it!
I was really nervous when Ben and I made our appointment with the Reproductive Endocrinologist - so much that I made myself sick. As much as I'm a planner, I didn't ever want to have to plan this much; when I dreamed of having kids with Ben it never involved blood draws or testing.

But then we had our consultation and I was over-the-moon at how incredible the doctor and staff were. We were told we needed a few "baseline" tests before discussing a plan, and this staff seemed like a great fit.

I had my first appointment a few weeks ago, and while it was just a simple test and blood draw, I was still waiting for the other shoe to drop. I figured we'd had one good appointment, so this one had to not be so great.

I love it when I'm wrong.

My appointment was fast, efficient, virtually painless (which is saying a lot because of how I am with having blood drawn), but I didn't feel rushed. I was called with same-day results, and so far everything looks good.

Ben and I still have a few more tests to establish our "baseline," and then we'll have a follow-up appointment to discuss everything; however, the more I communicate with the staff, the calmer I feel.

Maybe it is because we kind of have a plan. Maybe it's because the staff and doctor have been wonderful. But I'm a lot less worried and a lot more okay with taking it one day at a time.

So for now? Planning is not so bad after all.

I am glad that you are having such a good experience with this doctor's office. That is wonderful. Like I've said before - knowledge is power. It will be good to have all these tests behind you so you can proceed. I just know all of this is going to have a happy ending!!

Sounds like you are in a great place with these specialists/doctors/nurses. Makes my heart happy to hear that it's not as bad as you thought it would be. While I'm sure planning this isn't how you envisioned, I sure am glad that you're in amazing hands. Hugs, love and prayers continued for you both!

I think the best thing about these doctor's visits is they're going to arm you with information you didn't have before and allow you to continue to make a plan that makes sense for you and Ben. It's definitely important to feel a level of comfort and trust with the doctors and their staff - glad you found a practice that's good at what they do!

Even though planning can be stressful, I think it's often more stressful NOT to plan because you feel even less in control of the future & what's happening. At least this way, you can set some benchmarks to check your progress & figure out what's going on - & keep planning from there. XOXO.
