Light and warmth

Today I am thankful for power.  Not political power or superhero power (although that would be pretty awesome), but rather for basic electricity.
We lost power for a little over 24 hours during Sandy and we were so incredibly fortunate. There are people who didn't have power for days - or worse yet, no homes to go back to. We had places to go so we did not have to sit in a cold house - places where we could charge our phones, get online, and stay warm. Others were not as fortunate.

It's been a few weeks since the storm but a lot of the East Coast is still recovering. So today I am thankful that we have power to heat and light our home.

What are you thankful for today? (Nothing is too big or too small!)

I think we definitely take things like power for granted until we don't have them. I know some in NY are STILL without power and I just can't imagine going weeks without power!

I had a friend that did Peace Corp in the Dominican and her site did not have power. I went to visit her and wow, I came back really appreciating power. The hardest part was not having a warm shower!

Today I am thankful that my internet and cable were fixed on Monday as they didn't work for a week!

I'm glad to hear you got power back and didn't lose anything major! I'm thankful for friends and family!

Today I'm thankful for heat. As it gets chillier around these parts I'm so glad that I have a house with insulation, a heater that works, blankets and a fireplace if all else fails. (And a space heater at my desk for the really chilly days in the office.)

I completely agree about being thankful for power- we were out during Sandy for about 4 days and it was very hard, mostly because of the warm shower I had to go take elsewhere haha. I just talked to a friend of mine last night who lives in NJ and he just got power back YESTERDAY- as Lisa said, some are still without it. I can't imagine!
