Ten Days of Thankful

Um, Thanksgiving is next week. HOW DID THAT HAPPEN?! Maybe it's because I've been taking it one week at a time, but this year is flying by!

Today starts my Ten Days of Thankful series - every day from now until Thanksgiving I'll talk about something I'm thankful for. It can be big or small, meaningful or something that just gets me through the day. I have to give credit where it's due - I didn't come up with this idea on my own - I saw Lisa's Ten Days of Thanksgiving series a few years ago and, well,...imitation is the most sincere form of flattery, right?

Today I am thankful for veterans.

Sunday was Veteran's Day, and yesterday was the observed holiday. Although a lot of people had yesterday off, I had to work and while there were times when I just wanted to go home, I kept thinking it seemed right that I had to work on a day when Veterans (hopefully) did not. Members of the military work and are away from their families so much this seemed like the least I could do.

Someone said that when you join the military you're signing a blank check...one that could be payable with your life. That's an incredible thing.

So thank you to all the active military members, the Veterans, and their families, for all that they have and will do. These words are nothing compared to your sacrifices, but I mean them from the bottom of my heart.

What are you thankful for today?

I am SO glad you are playing along with the 10 Days of Thanksgiving post series! :)

That blank check statement really hit home with me... Wow. Great analogy. I am so thankful for the brave service men and women.

I was at work yesterday as well; while it was a quieter day I am also glad that I was here as we had some military men come in and take some exams they needed for their jobs. To be there for them when they are always here for everyone else? It was pretty neat (even though it was such a small thing).

Today I'm thankful for my mom for about 10,000 reasons.

Great post! I am grateful for our veterans too and today I have a special place in my heart for the vets and also active service men who are spending time in the hardest hit areas of NY/NJ helping with repairs and clean up.

I agree with Lisa - that blank cheque statement. Wow. Yes, very thankful for our veterans that have allowed us to have the life we do today.
