So I bragged about all the books I read last year, but I haven't done a review in awhile, so this week I'm going to catch you up on some good ones to read. Some of these helped me process through emotions, some were good escapes, but they are all worth the read! Up first, Knit the Season.
Knit the Season by Kate Jacobs
My rating: 4 stars
Overview from Goodreads: The story begins a year
after the end of Knit Two, with Dakota Walker's trip to spend the
Christmas holidays with her Gran in Scotland-accompanied by her father,
her grandparents, and her mother's best friend, Catherine. Together,
they share a trove of happy memories about Christmases past with
Dakota's mom, Georgia Walker-from Georgia's childhood to her blissful
time as a doting new mom. From Thanksgiving through Hanukkah and
Christmas to New Year's, Knit the Season is a novel about the richness of family bonds and the joys of friendship.
I loved The Friday Night Knitting Club and Knit Two, and the third book in this series was such a great way to finish it off!
I read this book in December after our follow-up appointment, because I needed something to escape into, and it was lovely.
In the past two books I found myself marking quotes here and there but I tore through this one so quickly I only flagged a couple pages. It was fun to read during the holiday season because it takes you from Thanksgiving all the way through the New Year and at times it helped keep me in the holiday spirit. I've grown to love the characters in these books and it was fabulous to wrap up the year with them.
And of course, it only enhanced my love of knitting!
Christmas
Somewhere, under the flurry of tearing gift wrap and devouring of
chocolate bells, is a day about family and connection and
thoughtfulness. Just as every hand-stitched item - every knit, every
purl, - encodes a secret message about devotion. Knitting is simply an
expression of love. (pg 119)
But there were also times when someone said something as if they were speaking right to me.
" 'Don't be so afraid of messiness in life. I always was. Worried about
having extra work to do. Or not feeling appreciated. But you know what?
The mess isn't going anywhere anytime fast. The world doesn't stop if
you take a break.' " (pg 169)
Again, I know I didn't tell you a whole lot about the plot, but part of my love for these books is in seeing the characters grow with the story and I don't want to spoil that for you!
Have you read this series by Kate Jacobs? Did you love it as much as I did?

I have read this whole series and LOVED it. I think I used the bookmark pattern in this last book to make bookmarks for friend with leftover yarn I had from making Christmas ornaments, which was fun. I really enjoyed the characters and it totally led me to learn to knit!
I read Friday Night Knitting Club so I should definitely check out the others! It was years ago so I don't remember much but hopefully it would come back to me :)
This book is on my list of must reads!
I haven't read any of her books but I hear nothing but good things! I probably need to get on that :)
I needed to thank you for this very good read!! I definitely loved
every bit of it. I've got you saved as a favorite to check out new stuff you post…
