From the mouths of babes

My niece is visiting this week and I've been spending as much time with her as I can. She's growing into quite a little person and when Ben and I had her over the other night she gave us a slew of hilarious things to talk about. And what kind of blogger would I be if I didn't share them with you?

When we were in the car and it started raining again (it had been on and off all day): "Oh my goodness, what are we going to do? This is such a pickle!"

While sprinkling cheese and pepperoni on bagel pizzas:
Maddie: "I love pepperoni!" (As she eats them instead of putting them on the pizzas).
Ben: "Maddie they go on the pizzas."
Maddie: "But I just LOVE pepperoni Uncle Ben!"

After eating some of her bagel pizza: "This is delicious! We all did a great job!"
Yes we took her to Starbucks - we start 'em young in this family. (Relax, it was just hot chocolate).
At Starbucks, she asked Ben what he was drinking and when he told her mango-orange coffee (it was one of the refreshers), she face palmed and declared, "That is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard!"

Needless to say we were pretty much laughing all night.

Do you have nieces or nephews (or kids) who say hilarious things? Please share!

A few weeks ago when we were on the phone with Belle she was telling us that she does "fire lessons" and after we asked her a series of questions to understand what that was (I imagined her learning how to fire dance or something, at the age of 4) she explained that it's when you line up real quietly and go outside in a line and wait for the fire to be over. So apparently fire lessons = fire drills. I was cracking up all night. Give me a week and I'll have more funny things to share I'm sure!

I've had to do double takes all week as you've posted photos on FB ... your niece reminds me a lot of my niece!!

We pretty much have the same bedtime routine for Gavin. After reading a book and getting everyone situated, Sweets leaves the two of us, so I can put him to bed. As he closes the door, I usually say, "thanks, babe." One night, that was followed by Gavin yelling to Sweets, "THANKS, BABE." =)

Hahaha these are all so cute. I love how willing kids are to congratulate themselves haha. Hilarious kid quotes are definitely my favorite part of teaching, sometimes I just burst out laughing at them!

Oh my gosh, she is so cute! I think my favorite is the comment about being in a pickle!! Too too funny. Kids are hilarious. I should do a better job of writing down what my nephews have said in the past. Maddie is kind of at the peak age for saying hilarious things. It's so fun! I am glad you got her to yourself for a night! Overnights are the best!

This is too cute! I love the quote at Starbucks. That's so funny! She's a little comedian.

My nephew says the funniest things, too! He picks up on a lot of things my brother says like this one time we were at the pool and my brother did something silly and my nephew just looked at him and said, "How do you sleep at night?!" HA!

My favorite, though, is when we were at a restaurant with him, my brother, and my mom. My mom was trying to get him to eat his grilled cheese so, since he loves Batman, she told him Batman eats grilled cheese. (This used to work with my brother when he was my nephew’s age. She told him the juice he was drinking was “Batman juice” and he would drink it.) My nephew just looks at her and says, “No, he doesn’t. I’ve watched Batman and I’ve never seen him eat grilled cheese.” HA. He’s a smart little cookie, that nephew of mine. ;)
