16 weeks

I want to just take a moment to say - oh my gosh,  I can't believe I get to post this! So grateful and excited!
How far along: 16 weeks

How big is baby: The size of an avocado. However, around 14 weeks baby was the size of a lemon so we started calling the baby Lemon, and the name has just stuck. So now, Lemon is the size of an avocado!

Sleep: Pretty good - sometimes I toss and turn and occasionally am up to go to the bathroom, but I get tired early on and for the first time in my life I'm actually listening to my body and going to bed at a decent hour. (Staying up until 10 PM these days is late for me). I've always had weird dreams so that hasn't changed, but they're more vivid now and sometimes about really mundane things. For instance, the other night I had a dream and in my dream I dreamt I was telling Ben about my dream. I mean...what?

Excited about: Being pregnant! Sometimes I still can't believe it's real! I definitely still get nervous/worried, but remind myself just to take it one day at a time.

Anxious about: I tend to get anxious a few days before a doctor's appointment. That's when the nerves kick in and even though I might have symptoms to assure me I'm still pregnant, I have to breathe more and tell myself not to worry so I can get through it.

Diet/Cravings/Aversions: The only thing I've really been craving is Sprite or Root Beer, which is interesting because I'm not a soda drinker. Nothing so far that I'm really averse to, but popsicles have been my go to when my stomach is upset. I was all ready to write about not getting sick anymore but I've had a few puking episodes lately (I got sick every day from mid-August to mid-October), so I'm just going to take my medicine and keep my mouth shut. Ha!

Gender: Too soon to know! We are going to find out, and I'm getting excited about it! More to come!

Movement: Also a little too early - I've read about feeling flutters in the next few weeks so we'll see if anything happens - or if I can even identify it! (Some women say it feels like gas - ha!)

The belly: I think most of my belly is still the stomach I started with, but baby seems to be moving things around a bit so I'm definitely protruding a little which is fine by me! It's so funny because for pictures my first instinct is to suck it in and then I remember, "oh wait!"

Miscellaneous: I have occasional lower back aches and sometimes my hips or parts of my stomach are sore - my doctor says this is all the ligaments shifting around, but it's so cool and weird to experience! I also have had to remind myself that energy in the second trimester does not mean the same level of energy I had before I was pregnant. I'm so "go go go," and sometimes still get surprised when I'm wiped the next day.

Best moment of the week: I don't know about best, but I think the most memorable moment happened last Friday. I came home from work early; my lunch didn't sit well and I wasn't feeling great. I was on 95, almost to my exit, when I realized I was going to be sick. So there I am, driving on the highway, while simultaneously throwing up into a Target bag. It was horrible at the time but it's kind of hilarious now!

This is going to sound weird but it was a little comforting. We had a doctor's appointment today, so Friday I was definitely a little anxious, and I feel like it was Lemon's way of saying, "well let me give you something different to focus on!" (I'm telling you, this kid already has a sense of humor).

Happy Monday!

Yayyyy 16 weeks!!! I'm so excited you get to post this too. I love Lemon already :) Max hopes Lemon is a boy, but mom hopes lemon is a girl because I need someone to buy pink things for haha. I felt definite movement at 18 weeks and before that there were times where I was like, wait is that movement? That was the BEST part of pregnancy for me (and lets be honest, there weren't many best parts in my mind- except getting the adorable and awesome baby at the end of it!), so I can't wait for you to experience it.

You are the cutest! I am so glad your appointment went well. I can completely understand why each appointment makes you nervous... so I can see how little Lemon making you puke is a good thing in a way as it reminds you that you are still on track (by the way, when I came to visit you in 2011, I totally puked while driving on a freeway to work that morning, so I can relate to that experience).

I hope you can feel the baby move soon - that will be so exciting!

Congratulations on Little Lemon!
I remember my daughter's first pregnancy and the fruit/veggie of the week (kumquat stuck for the duration with my grandson). Then we found the Dad's guide which is more entertaining. Stud finder?

I keep you in my prayers. (Barb & I go way back)

I love your little bump! So cute!!!!! I also can't believe you simultaneously threw up while driving, that is some impressive skill right there!

So excited for these updates!

You look adorably excited! I don't think I ended up feeling much movement until closer to 20 weeks and more after. I liked sipping on lemonade to take away the queasy.

Happy 16 weeks! I'm so happy that I'll be able to read weekly reports on your pregnancy. There's so fun for someone like me (single, childless!) to read, for some reason. :)

Yay for baby Lemon!
